The compilation of final fantasy vii
Back in November, 2003, Square Enix announced what fans had long been anticipating (though never really expecting): Final Fantasy VII was getting a sequel. Not only that, but this Super Awesome sequel was a movie, and apparently we hadn't seen nothin' yet. Although the Summer 2004 release date turned out to be a very unfunny joke, the other vow held true. The film was just the beginning of an all-out FFVII Renaissance formally known as The Compilation of Final Fantasy VII.
The Compilation of Final Fantasy VII is a collection of four titles that return players to the world of the classic RPG. Unlike the mini-game port Final Fantasy VII Snow Boarding, the titles included in The Compilation of FFVII do more to expand the story of the Planet and its colorful inhabitants.
Despite the delays and set-backs, The Compilation is boldly going where no franchise has gone before. Some may accuse Square Enix of "milking" one of their biggest titles, but in spreading the story across different mediums, Square Enix is also taking the concept of interactive storytelling -- one that FFVII revolutionized in 1997 -- to the next level. Thanks to the help of top-notch talents from all industries -- award-winning actors, chart-topping rockstars, and, yes, the original FFVII staff -- this strategy may just became standard procedure in the entertainment world.
